Body Repair – Licorice Root helps the muscles, joints and adrenals repair which are often slowed down by lack of proper sleep. Lemon Balm aids in helping to relax the brain while it repairs the body and balances the thyroid.
Valerian Root (Valeriana officianalis) Valerian is native to northern and eastern Europe as well as Northern Asia. In the middle ages it was known as the all-healing herb and even helped to cure epilepsy. It is one of the foulest smelling herbs out there, right up there with ripe dirty socks, thank goodness we encapsulate it. Valerian has been mostly used as a sedative or relaxant. Even most of our feline fur friends love it as react to it much like Catnip, so watch out and don’t leave out your capsules around the kitties. This relaxant also helps the brain and muscles in the body so you get a more deep restful sleep. Valerian Aids nervous anxiety, headaches, migraines, premenstrual conditions and assists in lowering blood pressure.
Chamomile flower (Matricaria recutita) Although there are many variations of chamomile from different parts of the world. We have found that studies show that the German Chamomile that we use in our formulas is the strongest and most effective strand grown. It is known as the children’s herb because its strong yet gentle enough for babies, children, and nursing mothers. Chamomile is most helpful for calming colic in babies, morning sickness, soothing indigestion, congestion, muscle tension, fever, insomnia, irritability, and asthma.
Peppermint (Mintha piperita) Peppermint is from Europe, United States and Canada. Peppermint is known for mostly flavorings of gum, toothpaste, candy, ect. What people don’t know is that it is considered the Swiss Army of herbs! It is considered a mild stimulant and cleanses and strengthens the whole body. It relaxes, cleans, soothes, and wakes ups the digestive tract, liver and gall bladder. It also helps gas, constipation, nausea, stimulates bile and digestive flow. Peppermint is amazing for headaches, muscle aches, and body and menstrual cramps, and overall just makes you happy and relaxed.
Catnip (Nepeta cataria) Catnip is mostly native to Europe but has naturalized itself in North America and is found growing wild along our dry highways. It is commonly known for making cats crazy for awhile then they sleep it off. It’s a natural sedative, calms the stomach, induces sweating to remove toxins, reduces fevers, and calms colic, measles and chicken pox. It’s a wonderful herb for cold and flu, especially the stomach flu.
Skullcap (Scutellaria laterifolia) Skullcap is purely North American. Was well known among the Cherokee Tribe as a female remedy to stimulate menstruation, ease breast pain, and bring on expulsion of placenta after giving birth. Many years later it was brought to the attention of the early settlers and they found out it was a wonderful sedative, helps epilepsy, panic attacks, depression, tension, headaches and migraines. It was also known as the rabies cure for humans and animals.
Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) Licorice Root has been known in Europe for several thousand years for aiding asthma, chest problems, and canker sores. It is more commonly known now to assist with digestive issues such as gastritis, peptic ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, and excessive acid. Helps inflamed muscles and joints, helps to treat adrenal issues related to Addison’s disease by stimulating production of hormones. In Japan studies have shown licorice root was effective in treating hepatitis and liver cirrhosis. Most of all this is known for it being a glycyrrizic acid. That means it’s good for the body and is over 50 times sweeter than sugar without affecting the blood sugar levels.
Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis) Lemon balm was first native to western Asia, southern Europe, and northern Africa, and has been used in Greece for over 2000 yrs. It is now so popular it is starting to be grown worldwide. It was well known for uplifting the spirit and increased longevity. Lemon balm is mostly known in America for calming the nerves, anxiety, depression, irritability, curing body and balancing hormones associate with thyroid. It assists with high blood pressure, the flu, fever, teeth problems, even gas and nausea. Lemon balm is also known to heal cold sores and genital sores related to herpes extremely fast if you use oil or cream topically.
Red Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) Red Rooibos hails from Africa. It’s pronounced as ROY-BOS, known as Red Bush tea. It is another one full of antioxidants and minerals such as calcium, copper, manganese, magnesium, potassium, zinc and SOD, (Super Oxide Dismutase) which is known for countering free radical damage to the body cells. It contains NO caffeine. It helps great with insomnia, babies with colic, relaxes nervous system, eliminates toxins, improves liver function, allergies, cold, hay fever because it enhances immune system. Red Rooibos is also great for bones and teeth due to it being full of so many minerals. Helpful for depression, assists in weight loss and helps your body bounce back after hangovers.
